Every year, an estimated 11.2 billion tonnes of solid waste is collected worldwide. And decay of the organic proportion of solid waste is contributing about 5 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, according to a UNEP report.

In this episode of For Her Future, we have Divya Hegde, a climate action entrepreneur from Udupi, Karnataka. She has been widely recognised for her work in advancing gender equality through climate action efforts. “Women are doing work for climate. There’s work like waste management, there’s work like rain water harvesting, and there’s work like reforestation.Typically we feel, if we are already privileged, with the things we have in terms of our needs, we don’t need to involve womenâ€_x009d_, says Hegde.
