A big anxiety for people before buying an electric vehicle is – the range of the vehicle.  How far will the vehicle drive, before its battery is drained completely?

Don’t worry, we have got you covered.  We will share five reasons why worrying about range or having range anxiety in your electric vehicles is unnecessary and unwarranted.

Charging stations at home

You don’t have your own private fuel station, do you?  In order to get fuel for your conventional internal combustion engine vehicles, you are required to visit a fueling station.  But with an EV, the charging station is at your own home.  Just plug the vehicle for a charge or a top-up and you are ready for your next journey.

Increasing number of charging stations

But what if you are on the road and the battery of your EV is losing power?  The growing networks of EV charging stations can ease your worries of your EV battery dying on you. The Delhi government has announced that it aims to have a charging station every 3kms in the city. As per reports, Delhi currently has over 2000 charging stations.

Regenerative Braking

This means the EV recaptures some of the car’s kinetic energy and charges the batteries when the brakes are applied. This makes local roadway, as opposed to highway driving, more efficient. While it may not increase your battery life by a huge amount each time you use regenerative braking, it can make a huge difference over the course of a drive.

Map out long-distance trips

Map out your journey before you start.  Know before you leave home where charging stations are on your route. There are several apps which provide details of EV charging points. Download those locations on your phone.  Planning the journey will avoid any battery mishaps.

Create or join a network of EV owners

When you are away from home, your community of fellow EV owners can come to your rescue.  If your EV battery dies, you can access this network and charge at a home station near you. But remember to be part of the community.
