Climate change is real and it is here! The risk of losses and damages from climate change is growing even as countries have initiated actions to adapt. The developing countries seem to be the worst affected when it is not their own fault. The session of UN Climate Change on ‘Exploring Loss and Damage’ looks at issues to avert and minimise while addressing loss and damage. It brings together experts to deepen our understanding of the climate crisis especially for the developing countries and vulnerable populations.
Alok Sharma, President COP26 who was a speaker at the event said that the people and economies are clearly at risk due to climate change.
“We know that the impacts of climate change will continue to intensify, even as we reduce emissions. From catastrophic incidents such as storms and floods to changes that occur gradually over time such sea level rises and desertification. So whether it is one of blows or insidious changes, people, places, nature and economies are very clearly at risk,” Sharma had said
