Cruising through Delhi on my EV

It’s not been very long since I switched to an electric vehicle. If I were to describe my EV in a line, I would say ‘My Ride is My Pride’. For me every letter of the word ELECTRIC means something. It stands for elated, leisure, easy-going, calm, time, radiant, intelligent and cute. This is how I define my TATA NEXON EV.

Now imagine yourself resting on a soft rug on the bank of a river while the cold breeze touches your face. You fall asleep and don’t realise where you have been sitting since you are so comfortable. This is what my EV means to me. It’s so easy to drive that you don’t even realise you’re driving it. It feels like you’re simply sitting in the car and not moving.

When I first started thinking about buying a new car, I was apprehensive because I wasn’t sure which one to go with. So when I heard about this EV, I wasn’t very convinced about buying it. I had many apprehensions like what if the vehicle breaks or stops, what will happen to me? What if the battery dies and I am left in a place where there is no help? How will I go around seeking help and more such doubts clouded my mind.

As it turned out, a member of my family was already driving an EV, so when I asked him about it, he replied, “Why don’t you try it for a week?” He’d been driving one for a year with no complaints, so that swayed my decision.

I visited the TATA Nexon showroom and did a test drive, following which I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the vehicle was really comfortable. However, I had many additional reservations about the vehicle, so the salesperson explained everything about it and informed me that several hundred customers were pleased with it, which persuaded me to buy it.

We finally settled on the top model with all the extras which my children wanted.

After a month or so, we received the car and we were very excited. After the puja at a nearby temple, we went for a test drive to India Gate, where we had ice cream with my friends to celebrate our first ride in that vehicle. It was a nostalgic moment for me celebrated in a vehicle that offers hope to the environment. It’s been two months since I’ve been driving this vehicle and my experience so far has been extremely good. I am very happy with my purchase.
