We as the human race sometimes think we are a blessing to this planet leading the world to development but actually, we are a curse on this planet leading our entire world to destruction. Nature's imbalance will be humans' fatality.

Nature is our mother and we owe her our life. We are alive due to the clean air and water which mother nature provides us with. We are the ones who have contaminated everything she gave us. The air today is so contaminated, that in Punjab, more than 41,000 people died due to air pollution in 2019. There are many causes of it including industrial fumes, vehicular emissions, agricultural burning, etc but one of the main reasons is Deforestation.

Punjab has a forest cover of 6.87% but with the rate of cutting trees, we might end up having quite less than this cover. We also plant thousands of saplings per year but they can never match the power of Mature trees. They are the source of absorption of Carbon emissions and release oxygen in a good quantity. But, without them how would we flourish, how will the animals roam around freely?

Trees can improve air quality in many ways. According to BBC, they can help by shading surfaces and reducing temperatures. If buildings are shaded by trees, it reduces the need for conventional air conditioning, and the emissions of greenhouse gases that come with it. Plus, lower temperatures decrease the risk of harmful pollutants like ground-level ozone that commonly spike on hot days in urban areas.

As of 2017, 9 lakh trees were chopped down in Punjab in 5 years. This isn't the development we need. Salutethetreestrust is planting trees in Punjab and aims to plant 1 million trees in the next few years.

We also aware people and children, take seminars and campaigns in schools and colleges. We offer free knowledge of what climate change is and how can we tackle it. We have to do it for future generations or else they will suffer.
